41-11 responds M/A to Fatal Auto Accident in Roosevelt FD
Updated On: Sep 17, 2013

On Thursday September 5, 2013 the Fairview FD was called to the scene of a fatal 3 vehicle accident on Rt. 9G in the Station #1 area of the Roosevelt Fire District.  41-11 and manpower respionded immediately to the scene,  once on scene Roosevelt command requested that 41-11 and crew preform extrication and determine life on a victim in a car that had been struck in the driver side by a large delivery truck.  Crews went to work and soon after some extrication determined that the sole occupant/driver was deceased and stopped all extrication efforts,  turning over the scene for police investigation.

After the initially determining no life was present in the occupant of the car,  crews stood-by and assisted with scene stabilization by continuous determining if the cargo the truck was carrying was leaking or in danger of fire.  The crews immediately on arrival at scene laid down a 1 3/4" charged hoseline for protection of all personnel working around the incident scene.

The accident occurred at 10:10 a.m. just north of the old Hyde Park police station and south of the intersection with Deer Hill Road on Route 9G when according to authorities a car traveling northbound struck a southbound car head on turning it sideways into the path of the southbound truck which could not avoid the collision striking the vehicle pushing it into the farm field on the westside of Rt. 9G.

Fairview crews were on scene for approximately an hour before being released by Roosevelt command to return to quarters.
