At approximately 1:09 pm, the Fairview Fire District was dispatched for a report of an explosion with a boat on fire at the Brass Anchor, located in the Town of Hyde Park.

Fire fighters arrived to find a boat that was fully involved in fire with exposure to the dock area.  The occupants of the boat had self extricated from the boat when the fire started and suffered minor injuries.   They were transported to a local hospital by Mobile Life Support Services.

Fairview firefighters extinguished the fire with the assistance of City of Poughkeepsie’s Marine unit.    Booms were then set up to contain any product from the boat and the fueling station.

In addition to the City of Poughkeepsie and Mobile Life Support Services, assisting the Fairview Fire District at the scene was the Dutchess County Sheriffs Office, Ulster County Sheriffs Office Marine Unit, Hyde Park Police Department, Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response, and NYS DEC Spill Response.  The Roosevelt Fire District relocated an Engine to the Fairview Fire Station for stand-by.  This was in addition to a call back being made for the oncoming Fairview Group #3 to stand-by and swap out personnel on this extremely Hot & Humid day.

The cause of the fire has been determined to be accidental.   Fairview personnel and equipment left the scene at 4:33 pm.  There were no injuries to fire personnel.
