Firefighters Quickly Extinguish Fire in House

11/17/2009- POUGHKEEPSIE, NY- At 19:57 hours, Fairview Firefighters were dispatched to the report of a house fire on Van Wyck Drive in the Town of Poughkeepsie. Firefighters responding to the scene found smoke showing from the house, and a laundry dryer on fire inside the residence. Firefighters were on scene within 3 minutes of dispatch, and thanks to a fast response, the fire was extinguished quickly, within 8 minutes of the initial 911 call, stopping any further damage to the property. 1 patient was evaluated for injuries. City of Poughkeepsie Engine 2 also assisted Fairview at the scene. All fire department units were clear of the scene by 21:03 Hrs.
